FAQs
One (of the many) things we’ve learnt over the years is that when it comes to health and safety, communication is more important than ever. These are some of the most common questions we get asked when it comes to safety signage and solutions.
If you’ve got a not-so-common question, please get in touch with our team. They’re always happy to help, offer advice, and find a solution that will meet your safety needs.
Where are you based?
You can find us on the southern edge of Hamilton – not far from the airport and away from all city traffic!
Sign Genius is part of Safety Genius Ltd – naturally we have some pretty cool signage on out building to help you find us.
Where do you ship to?
Anywhere in New Zealand that a courier will go to.
Home, Business or Rural is no problem – but please note that the couriers do
not deliver to PO Boxes.
Can I collect my purchase?
Yes, but please let us know in advance if you want to call in so we can make
sure your products will be ready for you.
Do you have a retail shop where we can browse signs?
Sign Genius doesn’t have a retail space as we are a Kiwi manufacturing
business.
We do like to provide sample images where required, so you can still get
confidence about the product before purchasing.
What sort of sign materials do you use?
Self-adhesive vinyl (Stickers)
- Best for smooth clean surfaces like windows & doors
- Made to order in all shapes and sizes (not just squares or circles)
Corflute
- A sheet of plastic flutes that is very lightweight and cost effective
- Typically used for short term applications
- The same material as Real estate agent signs
PVC Plastic
- A rigid plastic that used to be a cost-effective choice
- Some flexibility can be folded
- We prefer to use ACM as a more durable product
ACM (Aluminium Composite Material)
- A polyethylene core sandwiched between two thin aluminium
panels - Lightweight but very sturdy
- Minimum flex (ideal for larger signs)
- Ideal for interior and exterior signage
Luminous (glow in the dark)
- Stickers or Rigid Board
- These signs ‘charge up’ from natural or artificial light
- With a good ‘charge up’ the glow time will last approx. 8 – 10 hours (but diminishes in strength over that time)
Reflective
- Multiple colours available
- Retro-reflective, which means light is reflected back to the source
e.g. when car head lights shine on them - Perfect for use at night
Clear laminate overlay
- A see through / clear layer of laminate placed over your signs
- UV protection for longer life outdoors
Are the flat signs easy to install?
Yes!
For stickers please ensure your surface is smooth clean, as any gaps
between your surface and the sticker will allow dirt etc to get behind the
sticker, and that will diminish its ability to stick well.
Or rigid board (ACM or PVC) by default we drill holes in each corner so you
can screw or cable tie each corner to your wall or fence etc.
Can I change my mind?
With any custom-made product specifically made to your request, we cannot
take it back unless there is a manufacturing defect. This is because we
probably can’t resell it to someone else as it was unique to you.
But we offer sample drawings for your approval before we start printing. This
means you get to see a visual representation up front (via email), and this is
the best time to change your mind as nothing has been manufactured yet.
